Maybe not the right place to ask for career advice, but please forgive me, I'd do it anyway. I'm a senior backend developer in fintech, looking to switch to web3/crypto. I'm doing the cyfrin course right now as recommended by bowtiedpickle. How do I go about turning that into a career?
I'm of average intelligence, very broad but average skills and pretty decent at execution. I realised fundamentally I would prefer to contribute to crypto rather than anything else.
I’m in a similar boat, can’t comment on the intellect though 😉.
I’m trying a soft cutover using a work portfolio that leverages my existing expertise/ skill stack and integrating crypto. Example: as a Data Engineer, instead of scheduling loads of api or parquet to object storage, running iceberg on top of it , process in spark…
Trying to traverse The Graph to get data first, then process or enrich. Or, how about filecoin / airweave/ chainlink as a source? Lots of options.
What would a DAG of smart contracts look like? How much would the gas be to execute?
I think you can try and create any of the above in the fundamentals of Crypto- decentralization, privacy, etc…
Any of you looked into farming Storj or its viability as a platform? Seems like it’s actually hitting product market fit for a decentralized S3 competitor to Amazon, Backblaze…etc both on price and capacity, SLA…
I think farming stopped being significantly profitable some years ago? Viability as a platform- haven't reviewed the decentralized storage sector in awhile. Might be worth an update if we find anything interesting!
Could be worth another look! I’m not in some super low electricity area and my internet speeds are the main bottleneck but it looks like it will be profitable to keep growing my farm as fast as the drives fill (couple months per drive - so not that fast).
Might take some time but seems like it could grow to be a few $k per month if I kept at it over a few years. And they’re apparently close to signing some big clients which would continue to grow the data needs of the network.
Thanks! 40 years old, Amazon e-commerce business that was lucrative but died, background in finance. Is it worthwhile to get into crypto or better to just start another e-com business? Knowledge of crypto is pretty amount , mostly reading this account and BTB for the past 8 months or so.
"You can go learn to code and deploy something you believe should exist onchain starting today." Could you give a few examples and what type of code (sorry for newb question). Thanks!
Thanks, guys. Any further insight to go down the rabbit hole with base?

Thanks, I was thinking along the same lines as well. Hopefully, it suffices as a sample portfolio to break into the industry.

You already know ecom and have had past success so probably makes sense to focus there as first priority and crypto as a lower priority.
Coding as in software engineering. Can build apps / protocols. The specific languages will depend on what exactly you want to do.
